• Brisk, but not much of a breeze, just crisp air. Half the sky was whisky and/or stretched looking clouds, the other was clear blue and the beginnings of the sunset.

• Felt, smelled, heard, seen 

• I heard mainly highway noises today: rumbling of concrete under wheels, horns, engines, and lots of tires. Occasionally when those sounds would die down I would hear bits of chirping from different segments of brush around the water and near lines of trees.

         

• Saw mostly brown today, nearly all the trees have lost their leaves due to wind and rain. The grasses are golden brown and starting to sound rustley when the breeze comes through. The sky was very clear and the sunset light was beautiful, but about halfway through the visit it was hard to see because the light was fading. The flowers were almost all dead or crumbling. The milk weed is still alive and green.

 

     

• I felt dry grass and tree branches. Lots of crunched down grass and same tree branches on the ground.

• Changes noticed

• Most significant change was how brown everything is. There was a whole section of tall grass that had been plowed down — I saw tracks from a four wheeler or golf cart 

• Questions

• The highest noise was louder than ever today, so same question as before, how does it effect the animal life in this area? Does it scare off animals or change the soil?

• Awe 

• I got to bring a friend to my field study today and it allowed me to look at the beauty with fresh eyes. She ooh-ed and ahhh-ed about the sunset, the water, the cows and horses behind the study site. It brought some joy to something that was feeling like another assignment to check off the list.
